Product Description

ComponentOne Studio for SharePoint is a growing collection of web parts for creating data portals without coding. On-Board Designers provide an interface for selecting SharePoint List or BCS data and configuring views directly on the web part surface.

The following web parts are included:

  • Chart for SharePoint: chart types, themes, data source selection, option setting and charts that blend into the site design
  • CoverFlow for SharePoint: display a SharePoint picture library in an interactive iTunes-style cover flow gallery
  • DataGrid for SharePoint: a scrollable grid that groups, sorts and filters
  • ImageViewer for SharePoint: display an image with an interactive magnifying glass for zooming in to see detail
  • Maps for SharePoint: plot SharePoint list or BCS data on an interactive Microsoft Bing map without writing code
  • OLAP for SharePoint: a pivoting grid, summary chart and report in a single web part.

Features include:

  • OLAP for SharePoint: pivot large data sets with a grid, summary chart and report in a single Web Part. No cubes, development, or special database tools necessary. This Web Part is built with ComponentOne’s OLAP for Silverlight technology.
  • Studio for SharePoint SDK: users can add their own features to the web parts with the free SDK. This kit includes complete documentation, Visual Studio project templates and samples. SDK and Microsoft Visual Studio can be used to develop Silverlight extensions (.xap files) and upload them to SharePoint.
  • Support for SharePoint 2010: web parts work with all version of SharePoint
  • Installation Wizard: one installation wizard installs to an unlimited number of servers. Web parts are added to SharePoint Web Part Gallery automatically for insertion onto the page
  • On-Board Designer: included in each Web Part for opening in the Web Part zone and configuring web part data source, appearance and behaviour. End-users can configure web parts and create custom versions of every page that the user designs
  • Print Full Data View: print any data set the displays by the web part via a context menu
  • SharePoint Data Sources: connect to any SharePoint list, list view or external list by navigating to it via the On-Board Designer and connect to lists on other sites
  • Customisation: every web part can be customised using the Microsoft Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) by creating a .XAP file, uploading it to a library and pointing to it via the On-Board Designer
  • Connect to Other Web Parts: all of the web parts share the same common infrastructure. Use a grid to show high-level data, connect it to a chart to show details for the selected rows or to a map to show where everything is located
  • Platinum Support: 24 hour support response to the online community via knowledge base access, e-mail, telephone and a forum
  • Chart for SharePoint: create charts based on SharePoint Lists or BCS data. Select the chart type, apply a theme, select a data source, set options and blend charts into the site design. Features include data aggregation, mixed chart types, multiple series axes and zooming
  • Chart Data from SharePoint Lists or External Lists: open the On-Board Designer, point to a data source, select the data and configure the view. Use property lists to set data types, default grouping and column sizes without using the page edit mode
  • Create and Change Charts on the Fly: the On-Board Design opens directly on the web part surface for making changes including to the data source
  • Aggregate and Summarise Data: perform calculations such as average, sum and count on data to show summary charts without setting up calculations in the source data
  • Chart Multiple Data Series: compare data by overlaying multiple series on one chart
  • Built-in Chart Types: select charts including variations of standard charts such as line, bar, pie and column and advanced charts such as financial, radar and gantts
  • Themes and Palettes: use Microsoft Windows-based themes and palettes
  • Zoom and Pan: click and drag over an area to focus inwards; use shift-click and drag to focus outwards
  • CoverFlow for SharePoint: point CoverFlow to a SharePoint picture library to display images in an iTunes-style carousel
  • DataGrid for SharePoint: enable users to display and interact with SharePoint List or BCS data sources. Navigate through any SharePoint site, select a source and work with data. Scroll, group, sort and create hierarchical views without waiting for page refreshing and add, update and delete data
  • Display SharePoint Lists, Views and External Lists: open the On-Board Designer, point to a data source, select the data and configure the view. Property lists set data types, default grouping and column sizes without using the page edit mode
  • Print Reports: set up the data view, right-click and print the entire grid to use the DataGrid as an ad-hoc reporting tool
  • Enable End-Users to Edit and Update Data: enable users to edit data regardless of the source, adding, removing and editing records without post-backs or lengthy page refreshing
  • View, Sort, Group and Filter: view a SharePoint page without waiting for it to refresh when the data view is changed. Scroll the entire table without paging through large data sets
  • Create Master-Detail Relationships:navigate related database tables and lists. Use the On-Board Designer to select parent and child tables and related columns and drill down into the details for any data row

  • Freeze Columns and Rows: browse data sets by freezing rows and columns. Set default frozen rows and columns in the On-Board Designer or enable end-users to define custom parameters
  • ImageViewer for SharePoint: point the ImageViewer for SharePoint Web Part to a picture and display it with a magnifying glass
  • Maps for SharePoint: plot a SharePoint list or BCS data on a Microsoft Bing Map using interactive smart pins. Point-and-click data selection, automatic geocoding (turn addresses into geographic co-ordinates) and pop-ups enable users to create the map views without coding
  • Display Geographic Data Using Smart Pins: pinpoint each location on the map using an indicator (pushpin, flag, ball, star or custom image
  • Automatic Geocoding: use a location identifier (address, postal code, state, point of interest) to plot data. Maps for SharePoint connects to the Bing geocoding service to determine the map co-ordinates
  • Connect Location Markers: each smart pin is related to an annotation. Show drill-down data, images, URLs and street map insets etc or create tool tips dynamically.

Product Licensing

ComponentOne Studio for SharePoint is icensed per-developer. A developer may install the licence on up to three machines except SharePoint products which are licensed per server. Licences may be transferred from one developer to another or from one server to another. The original copy must be removed completely from the original developer machine or from the original server. A licence provides entitlement to building applications using the components. Applications can be distributed royalty-free.


A license entitles the purchaser to one year of free upgrades including bug fixes and new features. It is permitted to continue to use the products after a subscription has expired but updates will not be available.

Source code is not included with any products unless explicitly stated in the product feature list. However, source code for the Report Designer application is included in the ComponentOne Studio Reporting Edition and with the Studio Source Code Edition products.

Subscriptions

The ComponentOne Subscription Program provides access to the latest ComponentOne software releases, upgrades and enhancements via the internet using a single serial number with a single renewal date. The members' Subscription page on the ComponentOne Web site enables the account to be accessed and managed. e-mail support is provided for the full duration of the subscription term.
