ComponentOne Studio for Compact Framework, previously called ComponentOne Studio for Mobile Devices, comprises ComponentOne FlexGrid for Mobile Devices, ComponentOne Chart for Mobile Devices and ComponentOne Zip for Mobile Devices for adding grid, chart and zip compression to Microsoft .NET Compact Framework-based applications. The software can be used to develop applications on devices such as PDAs and mobile telephones.

MaskEdit

Extend the Functionality of the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 TextBox Control

• Distinguish Between Proper and Improper End-user Input
  The edit mask prevents end-users from entering invalid characters into the control and provides other enhancements of the UI. Special characters are used to specify acceptable input at each position in the control. For example, a mask for a phone number might be "(999) 000-0000", and a Social Security Number would be "000-00-0000".
• Set Special Placeholders
  The PlaceHolder property gets or sets the characters used to show spaces where the user is supposed to type. The default placeholder is "_", causing the phone number mask to appear as "(___) ___-____". Other placeholders include 0, 9, #, /, $, and so on.
• Add Content to Your MaskedTextBox
  The Content property gets the non-literal characters in the control. For example, in a phone number mask this would be the digits in the phone number, without spaces, parentheses, and a dash.

Zip

ComponentOne Zip for Mobile Devices' class library is architected to provide developers with three levels of programmatic control. At the most abstract level users take total control over zip files, but when they need more power and flexibility, they can work directly with the low level data compression engine.

  The highest level classes in the ComponentOne Zip for Mobile Devices library include the C1ZipFile, C1ZipEntry, and C1ZipEntryCollection classes. These classes give users the power to create, open, and easily manage industry standard zip files. With these classes, users can inspect the contents of zip files, test their integrity, and even add, delete, and extract entries to and from zip files.
• Streamline Application Deployment
  Using the high level classes (C1ZipFile, C1ZipEntry, and C1ZipEntryCollection), users can consolidate multiple files into a single compressed zip file (optionally password protected).
• Save Disk Space and Network Bandwidth
  Using the high level classes (C1ZipFile, C1ZipEntry, and C1ZipEntryCollection), users can alow their end-users to give their hard disk and network the extra space it deserves by adding convenient zip compression to their Mobile Device application.

  The medium level classes in the Zip for Mobile Devices library include C1ZStreamReader and C1ZStreamWriter. These classes let their Mobile Device applications perform a variety of powerful data compression tasks on not only zip files, but any .NET streams.

  The low level class in the Zip library includes ZStream. It is C# implementation of Zlib, the popular data-compression library written by Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler. ZStream is the most flexible class included in Zip and is used extensively by the higher level classes in Zip.
• Industry Standard Format
  Using the high level classes (C1ZipFile, C1ZipEntry, and C1ZipEntryCollection), users do not need to worry about file compatibility. Zip allows users to completely control industry standard zip files.
• Fast, Low Memory Compression Engine
  Using medium level classes (C1ZStreamReader and C1ZStreamWriter), users can save time with Zip' unique compression engine.
• Stream-based Compression and Decompression
  Using medium level classes (C1ZStreamReader and C1ZStreamWriter), users can take advantage of stream-based functionality which provides maximum flexibility for compressing and decompressing data into and out of regular .NET streams.

Product Licensing

The product is licensed per-developer for up to three machines with the exception of SharePoint products which are licensed per server. Licenses may be transferred from one developer to another or from one server to another. The original copy must be removed completely from the original developer machine or from the original server. Applications built using the components may be distributed royalty-free.

A licence includes one year of free upgrades including bug fixes and new features. Products may continue to be used after one year but updates will not be available unless the subscription is renewed. Source code is not included with products unless explicitly stated in the product feature list. Exceptions are the source for the Report Designer application which is included in the ComponentOne Studio Reporting Edition and the source code included with the Studio Source Code Edition products.
